A PROMISING PROJECT
To generate INCOME FOR THE LOCAL COMMUNITY on the Island and combat the waste of abundant food in the region, jackfruit, we have developed the Jackfruit Processing Project.
Our main goal is to promote the economic development of the community by supplementing the income of local families through the intelligent and sustainable use of jackfruit.
Jackfruit, especially in its green form, has emerged as a super nutritious alternative for vegetarians and vegans, contributing to a healthy and conscious diet.
REGENERATIVE ECOSYSTEM
If you have ever visited the Island and explored its trails, you must have come across a jackfruit tree at some point.
Originally from India, jackfruit was introduced to other parts of the world through ancient trade routes, and today, jackfruit is not only a gastronomic ingredient but also an environmental challenge in some regions. Despite being an extremely sustainable crop that does not require irrigation, pesticides, or fertilizers, it has developed a regenerative ecosystem, outcompeting other native species, emphasizing the importance of sustainable management approaches.
By using jackfruit consciously, we not only combat waste but also contribute to controlling the rampant spread of jackfruit (which is an invasive species) on Ilha Grande.
