WE ARE THE NGO SOMOS NATUREZA
We have a clear and powerful mission: to build a strong alliance among society, the government, businesses, and community organizations from the third sector, aiming at the preservation and responsible care of nature.
WE ARE the bridge that connects different groups of people: "We are here to unite our voices and ideas for the well-being of humanity and future generations."
WHY ILHA GRANDE
Ilha Grande has approximately 193 km², with 95% of its area covered by primary and secondary Atlantic Forest, making it the second ecosystem in terms of biodiversity worldwide.
Ilha Grande was recognized as NATURAL HERITAGE SITE BY UNESCO for its rich biodiversity of fauna and flora, as well as coral reefs along its entire coast.
It houses a marine sanctuary, a lush forest, and incredible beaches.
KNOWING THAT ONLY 7% OF THE ORIGINAL EXTENSION OF ATLANTIC FOREST REMAINS IN BRAZIL, As true lovers of this paradise, we understand that it is essential to protect and preserve this unique ecosystem.
PRESERVING BEYOND NATURE
We believe in the power of connections. United with different local communities, we empower and learn in a constant and rich exchange that results in positive and lasting impacts for the land that receives and embraces us. By joining forces, we strengthen existing practices of preservation and sustainability, identifying needs to work together in support of the environment and the care and preservation of the local caiçara culture.
CARING FOR OUR HOME
We work on collecting and recycling solid waste, especially plastic, through partnerships with other institutions and the local community, transforming and giving new meaning to plastic, reducing its negative impact on the environment. WE ARE ONE! We are part of the land we inhabit and responsible not only for the impact we cause but even more so for acting for its regeneration.
REGENERATION FOR THE FUTURE
In partnership with Paraíso Azul Retiro for preservation and regeneration, we are managing an extensive area and implementing an agroforest amid the secondary vegetation of the Atlantic Forest. The agroforest in Freguesia de Santana is in the pilot phase, developed in collaboration with the Quilombo do Bracuí, incorporating native fruit species and controlling invasive species such as Artocarpus heterophyllus (jackfruit). We work together, the team and local residents, also engaging in awareness-raising actions about the importance of preserving our flora and fauna, both marine and terrestrial.
INTEGRATION OF HUMAN/NATURE
Our goal is to cultivate an awareness shift in people through activities and immersive experiences in nature, building an understanding that nature is not something external or separate from the individual. On the contrary, humans are integral to a symbiotic relationship in the ecology of the biosphere, making us participants in nature. WE ARE NATURE, WE ARE ONE.
